Maria is an amazing writer & today she presents her book to us “The broken wings of my youth”.
She also talked to me about relationships, but also about her future plans.
Let's see what he told me:
1. Tell us a little about yourself and how your love for writing books began?
I am Maria, a dreamer since childhood, a woman who was born many years ago in Athens.
I am married and have two wonderful daughters.
I studied and worked in the field of aesthetics-cosmetology, but as a restless spirit, along the way I pursued other things that today make me happy and creative, such as writing.
My love for writing began as a child.
I wrote short stories, created fairy tales that sprang from my imagination.
It was my secret that I hadn't even revealed to my family.
I always had paper and pencil and wrote down my thoughts, until the time came.
"Maybe the idea of writing my first complete novel had also matured within me."
2.What topic does your book deal with?;
“My latest novel, titled THE BROKEN WINGS OF MY YOUTH, published by EXI Publications, is a life story of my hero Stratos, who experiences the loss of his mother while giving birth to her second child in a village in Ioannina.
Just after forty days, the father himself leaves his children in an orphanage.
He experiences all the rejection from his own father as well as the cruelty of his decisions.
Through events and situations, he loses track of his sister.
But the love for this creature, his Rhinoula, and the vow of life he made over his mother's grave become his sole purpose.
He comes to Athens as a young child, a psychopath, and from there his difficult path begins.
Fate intervenes and he finds his sister, but the German Occupation comes to devastate their lives once again.
Athens-Thessaloniki-Auschwitz on a journey of a lifetime and on difficult paths that my hero walked with stubbornness and will.”
3. Relationships are difficult these days. What do you think is the reason for this?
"These days, yes, human relationships have become difficult because somewhere, I believe, we have lost ourselves."
Most people invest in other things believing they will find happiness rather than in sharing life.
Because relationships take work and, above all, soul to build, and some people don't want to ruin their love."
4. The economic crisis affects us all. What is your advice to young people who are just starting their dreams?
"Clearly the economic crisis has affected us all. The realities of our lives have changed and to this day we are trying to adapt."
And especially now with the pandemic, I believe we should arm ourselves with more strength because adapting to the new economic realities will not be easy.
The only wish for young people is that they do not lose hope.
I know it's difficult, I see from my children how circumstances shatter their dreams.
But life requires stubbornness and if you have it, even if it falls apart, you build it back up again.”
5. Write us your favorite part of the book that you want to share with us.
"There are many things I love about the book and I can't single out any one."
This particular excerpt is found on the last pages of the book.
I especially love it because the moment I was writing it and reaching the end, I burst into tears because I experienced the redemption of the heroes.”
"We'll get old and you'll still call me Rinoula!" she said and laughed at him, looking at him tenderly.
“I called the painting “The Broken Wings of Our Youth” and the doves are you and I, Stratos, who, although we bled, managed to fly and were freed from everything.
You from the pain and longing you had to find me as a child.
From the demons that haunted you since your childhood, from the dreams that had no colors, but only the color of sadness.
I know what you did for me, Stratos, I know how you fought with your moral values and I know how you killed for my sake."
6. Favorite song and phrase at this time
“Especially at this time due to Covid-19 and quarantine, I give rhythm to my everyday life with Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, not only because its rhythm gives me optimism but also because it is my favorite song from my teenage years.
As for a life quote, especially in these difficult days we are all experiencing, I will tell you what I wrote in my book THE BROKEN WINGS OF MY YOUTH: "Nothing is lost unless we let it be lost."
7.What can we expect from you in the future?;
"I hope you see from me nothing but novels drawn from my soul."
Books that I hope will be loved like the previous ones.
And also, ending this nightmare, my book "SECRET LACE" will be released in bookstores, a reissued book that the reading public loved.
That's why EXI Publications supported it and hopefully those who haven't read it will also have the opportunity to acquire it."
8.Where can anyone find you?
“They can find me on Facebook as well as in my group “MYSTIKİ DANDELA” as well as on Instagram.”
9. A Wish for the Ex's Ghost By Tina Michaelidou
"My wish for you is that you continue to do what you do so well."
It's important for all of us writers to have people who love books and support us.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hospitality.
I hope that the beginning of this acquaintance will lead us on journeying paths through the pages of books.”
